The Malawi Police Service (MPS) has arrested two people for being found in possession of medical drugs without a licence. 

The duo, identified as Wellington Chabakha (65) and Hyphen Matchanga (28) were nabbed on February 20, 2024 at Nsaru Trading Centre in Lilongwe. 

They illegally operated a drug shop and administered prescription to innocent clients, a move that poses a health hazard to the community. 

The Drug and Narcotics section under Criminal Investigations branch pounced on them after a tip-off from well-wishers. 

The SDP has been developed based on a robust diagnosis of the internal and external challenges or constraints that the Police Service faces as well as opportunities or enabling factors that exists within the remit of the Police Service and those that the wider environment presents to the Police Service in the course of pursuing its mandate. 

The Minister of Health Honorable Khumbize Kandodo Chiponda, MP, has expressed satisfaction with the progress towards the construction of a laboratory at Zomba Police College Hospital.

Malawi Police Service (MPS) has arrested seven suspected armed robbers in connection to a spate of robberies and murder targeting Chinese businesspersons in the city of Lilongwe.
