The Malawi Police Service (MPS) has its headquarters at Area 30 in Lilongwe, the Capital City of Malawi. There are six policing regions under the police headquarters namely: Central West Region in Lilongwe, Central East Region in Kasungu, South West Region in Blantyre, South East Region in Luchenza, Northern Region in Mzuzu and Eastern Region in Zomba. Under each region, there are police stations, posts and units. In addition, each region has a Police Mobile Service (PMS) Division.
The Malawi Police Service is headed by an Inspector General of Police (IGP) who is supported by two deputies; one responsible for Operations and the other for Administration. There are several departments at headquarters level which are headed by Officers in Charge under the direct supervision of the Inspector General of Police or the deputies.
At regional level, there are Commissioners of Police who report to the Inspector General and oversee stations under their command. Each station is headed by an officer in charge who report to regional commissioner. Under stations, there are posts and units.
