President Chakwera poses with MPS High Command and best recruits
The President of the Republic of Malawi, His Excellency Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera, has hailed police officers in the country for the commendable job they are doing in making the country safe.
Chakwera made the sentiments on Friday, April 12, 2024 at Limbe Police Training School in Blantyre when he presided over a passing out parade of 1367 recruit constables.
Addressing the gathering, Chakwera hinted that police officers are important in the country and the Malawi Police Service has proved by providing a secure environment for the citizenry, including the eradication of torture and killings of persons with albinism, among other achievements.
The President then congratulated the newly recruited Police Officers and instructed them to work in accordance with the law in order to serve the public with sincerity and not to fulfill selfish desires.
He also asked them to work towards upholding the rule of law against all odds such as politics, money, and populace.
On her part, Inspector General for the Malawi Police Service, Mrs. Merlyne Nachulu Yolamu, has described the graduation of the recruit constables as a boost to the service as it will add to the population of police officers which will assist in tightening security in the country.
She then urged the newly recruited Police Officers to consider their work as a calling and asked them to serve the public with patriotism, dedication, love, and honesty.
"Remember you are custodians of peace and guardians of justice in our society; at all times maintain honesty and integrity in your conduct," emphasized Yolamu.
A total of 1367 recruit constables have completed their course; comprising 518 females and 849 males, drawn from 3 different Police training institutions of Limbe, Mtakataka, and Mlangeni.
