Cyclone Freddy survivors encouraged to rebuild lives

Police families who were affected by the Cyclone Freddy have been encouraged to rebuild and remain positive if they are to defeat the trauma they went through.

The call was made by the Deputy Inspector of Police for adminstration Mr. Happy Mkandawire on Tuesday April 18, 2023 when he presented donated items and cash to the 78 Police families who were affected by Cyclone Freddy earlier this year.

Malawi Police Service Assists Cyclone Freddy Survivors

In a show of unity and goodwill, the Malawi Police Service through its welfare branch has donated various items and money to 45 police families who were affected by Cyclone Freddy in Mulanje, Phalombe and Blantyre. 

The function took place at Edgas Lodge at Muloza in Mulanje on Wednesday, 5 April, 2023.

Leader of the delegation, Mrs. Sinya Mkandawire, wife to the Deputy Inspector General for Administration, expressed gratitude towards police officers across the nation for their contributions and encouraged the affected families to make good use of the items.

AGA - Africa partners Police in equipping investigative trainers

The Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police responsible for Administration, Mr Happy Mkandawire has officially opened the Criminal Investigative Trainers course on Monday, October 24, 2022 at Central Region Training Centre (CRTC) in Lilongwe. 

The week-long Trainer of Trainers (TOT) course comprising 26 participants drawn especially from Police Training Schools countrywide, is being sponsored by the Attorney General Alliance (AGA) Africa. 

MPS embraces Retired Police Officers Association (REPOA)

The Malawi Police Service (MPS) has committed to cooperate with the newly launched Retired Police Officers Association (REPOA) which seeks to advance welfare of retired police officers.

Representing the Inspector General of Police during the official launch of the association at National Police Headquarters in Lilongwe, Mrs. Barbra Tsiga, Commissioner of Police said MPS is ready to rally behind the group as it serves a benchmark for discipline, togetherness and retirement preparedness.

Homeland Security Minister cautions officers against corruption, misconduct

The Minister of Homeland Security, Hon. Jean Sendeza, MP, has cautioned police officers to refrain from corrupt practices perpetrated in line of their duties, saying the malpractice erodes public confidence.

The Minister made the remarks on the sidelines of her familiarization tour at National Police Headquarters in Lilongwe on Friday, October 7, 2022.

IGP uplifts SARPCCO team's morale

The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mrs Merlyne Yolamu (PPM), has lifted the morale for the Southern Africa Regional Police Chiefs Cooperation (SARPCCO) games travelling squad by rallying them to compete for medals in Tanzania.

She was addressing a 150-member squad of Police officers on Monday, August 29, 2022 at National Police Headquarters parade ground in Lilongwe. The team is departing for Dar Es Salaam on August 30 through Songwe border in Karonga.
