Malawi Police Service on November 30 2021 commemorated its 100th Anniversary.
The event was presided over by His Excellency the State President Dr Lazarus Chakwera and it was held at the National Police Headquarters in Area 30, Lilongwe.
The President said there is a need to equip the police with adequate resources to ensure effective and efficient policing. He also said it is the responsibility of every Malawian to help the police rebuild its image.
The Inspector General of Police Dr George Kainja highlighted MPS' long journey, saying it has helped the police to take stock of successes and challenges which include housing problems.
On his part, Homeland Minister Richard Chimwendo Banda shared the sentiments.
During the centenary celebration, medals were awarded to police officers for their outstanding service. Various displays, including parade, were the order of the day.
