Minister impressed with Zomba Police College Hospital lab progress

The Minister of Health Honorable Khumbize Kandodo Chiponda, MP, has expressed satisfaction with the progress towards the construction of a laboratory at Zomba Police College Hospital.

The Minister made the remarks on January 24,2024, when she inspected the infectious laboratory building at Zomba Police College Hospital.

She said government is committed to ensuring that the hospital is providing quality health services to the police officers and the surrounding community.

Global Seeds Limited donates reflective jackets, whistles to Chitipi Police Unit

In a strive to enhance security around Chitipi area in Lilongwe, Global Seeds Limited, an indigenous seed company, has emphasized the crucial role of companies and stakeholders in supporting security institutions in their operations areas. 

The Company's Projects Manager, Sheriff Mgwira, has disclosed this on the sidelines of the donation of 30 reflective jackets and 18 whistles the company has made to Chitipi Police Unit, operating under Lilongwe Police Station.

MPS arrest 7 armed robbers behind Lilongwe murder, robberies

Malawi Police Service (MPS) has arrested seven suspected armed robbers in connection to a spate of robberies and murder targeting Chinese businesspersons in the city of Lilongwe.

The Service has also recovered two firearms - an AK47 Assault Rifle with five live ammunition and a pistol, and two motor vehicles used in the commission of the crimes.

Police recover stolen vehicle, suspects arrested

Lilongwe Police Station on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 successfully intercepted a stolen motor vehicle registration number CA 5116 VW Polo, following a burglary and robbery at Mbwindi 2 location, along Likuni-NRC Road.

Police officers have also arrested three suspects in connection to the crime.

They have been identified as Gilbert Phiri, 24, (key suspect), Chrispin Kanjira,25, and Innocent Moses, 38, (receivers)

Court convicts 3 over vandalism of Escom apparatus in Lilongwe

The Senior Resident Magistrate court in Lilongwe has on Monday convicted three men for vandalizing four Spans, High Voltage oak line of 1200 metres long, of 100 millimeters each, worth K22.2 million belonging to Electricity Supply Corporation of Malawi (ESCOM).

The convicts have been identified as Michael Kambalame, 26, Umali Rashid, 35, both Area 36 residents and Chikafa Dzuwa, 41, a Chinsapo location resident.

Police arrest man behind fake Inspector General Facebook account

Police detectives from Cyber Crime Unit at National Police Headquarters have arrested 26 year-old Innocent Kananji on suspicion that he created a fake Facebook account bearing the name and photo of the Police Inspector General Meryln Yolamu. 

He was allegedly using the account to dupe unsuspecting youths of money amounting to K150,000 on the pretext that he would recruit them into the Malawi Police Service.
