KIA Police boast over new cargo X -Ray Machine

Police at Kamuzu International Airport- KIA has promised maximum usage of the newly installed X- ray machine at Cargo.

The Director for Airport security, Mr Alex Siment made the promise during the official handover ceremony on September, 3, 2024 at Cargo complex.He assured the department that Airport Police will indeed take good care of the equipment.He reiterated that police is more determined to work professionally and the gadget will help officers easily detect prohibited items such as explosives and drugs.A police officer operating the X-ray machine

Speaking during the handover ceremony, Mr. Mzondi Nyirenda who represented the Director of Department of Civil aviation said that government is determined to ensure that the airport has good equipment that will enhance security at the airport. He implored the operator, Airport Police to take care of the equipment.

Speaking on the same note, the CEO of ADL Mr. Victor Lungu thanked government for the equipment and he promised to help in further training of officers to be more professional in X-ray operations. He further promised that the equipment will be well looked to maintain its functionality.

The CEO of Air cargo services, Mrs Thoko Unyolo expressed excitement considering that the equipment will ease the job of screening cargo.

The Machine is an XRC DV series based on Linux System manufactured in Turkey by XRAY CENTER GUVENLIKSISTEMLERI A.S. It is one of the latest models with dual dimensionsal view of images and has been installed by Malawi Government through department of civil aviation.
