Malawi Police Centenary Celebrations

The Inspector General of Malawi Police Service Dr. George Kainja emphasizes the significance of keeping and valuing the history of Malawi police Service as the service clocks a hundred years. Centenary celebrations are scheduled before the year ends. Among others, a book on police history will be launched to mark the historical milestone in creating a safe and secure Malawi

Investigations

This is the mother branch at a police station. All officers in this branch wear police uniform. The aim of the branch is to prevent crime. Police officers in this branch are responsible for beat patrols, roadblock operations, investigations and arresting suspects.

Prosecutions

This branch is responsible for presenting cases in courts against individuals accused of breaking the law. Cases that have been investigated are handed over to officers in this branch for prosecution.

Community Policing

The branch coordinates activities aimed at ensuring that there is good working relationship between the police and the community in the fight against crime. Through this branch, the police engage citizens on safety and security matters in their localities through structures created at community level. Sections under this branch include: Crime Prevention and Partnership Desk, Victim Support Unit (VSU), Youth and Schools Outreach/Child Protection and Rural Police Unit.
