Illovo eases transport challenges for Chikwawa police station

The Inspector General of Police , Dr. George Kainja, officialy opens the refurbished Ngabu Police Offices

Illovo Sugar Company has today donated to Malawi Police Service three vehicles to ease mobility challenges in the lowershire district of Chikwawa.

The vehicles include two brand new Tata Pickups and one Toyota Land Cruiser pick up.

Illovo has also handed over the refurbished Ngabu Police Post offices.

The Inspector General of Police Dr George Kainja received the vehicles and the refurbished office on behalf of the Malawi Police Service.

'What is unique in this donation from Illovo is the magnitude of the donation. The vehicles will be properly taken care of likewise the office block', said the IG.

Mrs Moreen Kachingwe, head of Legal Affairs Illovo, represented Illovo at the handover function.

Regional Community Policing Chairman for the South East Region Mr Bayliss Mkandawire said the vehicles will help in rapid response in the fight against crime.

'Issues of mob justice which were prevalent in Chikwawa, will be contained and managed as we have now enough vehicles for swift response', he said

The three vehicles will be deployed one each to Chikwawa Police Station, Nchalo Police Post and Ngabu Police Post.
