The Malawi Police Service (MPS) through its Public Relations Officer has stressed the need for fair and ethical reportage on Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV) affairs.
The Service Public Relations Officer, Mr. James Kadadzera, Assistant Commissioner of Police, made the remarks Wednesday during the official opening of the three day media training on 'SGBV Survivor Centred Reporting' in Mponela.
Kadadzera said unfair and unethical reporting may lead to public humiliation and violation of human rights of the news characters.
He therefore called for a consented media networking if SGBV Survivor Centred Reporting is to be achieved.
The training has drawn Police Public Relations officers, reporters, information and gender officers across the country.
