Clarification on a Blantyre shooting incident misrepresented on social media

The Malawi Police Service (MPS) wishes to clarify on a shooting incident that happened in Blantyre in which Mr. Rabiah Akar, a Lebanese businessman, is alleged to have shot and wounded his employee, Dave Tsogolera who is suspected to have connived with criminals to break into his warehouse in Limbe.

The Malawi Police Service (MPS) has noted with great concern, the growing phenomenon of some overzealous people who are using abusive language against others on different social media platforms. The trend does not only breach peace on innocent individuals, but it also lands one into a criminal conflict where the doer can be arrested and prosecuted accordingly.

Malawi Police Service fighting corruption within its rank

The Malawi Police Service(MPS) wishes to inform the public that it has received the report released by Afrobarometer on April 14, 2022 in which Malawi Police Service is said to be topping the list with 42% as the most corrupt organisation in Malawi according to a corruption opinion collected through the survey.
