Road accidents decrease by 16 percent during Christmas in 2022

The Malawi Police Service (MPS) wishes to inform the public that road accidents recorded during this year's Christmas period have decreased by 16 percent when compared to similar accidents recorded in 2021 during the same period.

 

However, an analysis of the data on these accidents shows that the total number of people killed from the accidents in 2020 has increased by 10 percent.

 

Clarification on a Blantyre shooting incident misrepresented on social media

The Malawi Police Service (MPS) wishes to clarify on a shooting incident that happened in Blantyre in which Mr. Rabiah Akar, a Lebanese businessman, is alleged to have shot and wounded his employee, Dave Tsogolera who is suspected to have connived with criminals to break into his warehouse in Limbe. 

MPS warns against cyber harassment

The Malawi Police Service (MPS) has noted with great concern, the growing phenomenon of some overzealous people who are using abusive language against others on different social media platforms. The trend does not only breach peace on innocent individuals, but it also lands one into a criminal conflict where the doer can be arrested and prosecuted accordingly.
