mobilisation messages calling for Anti-Government demonstrations in the City of Blantyre on 14th 
January 2022.

Police unmasks hit and run driver, reaps 2 years IHL

The Senior Resident Magistrate's (SRM) court in Mchinji has on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 slapped a hit and run driver, Chikumbutso Kathira, 32, to two years imprisonment with hard labour (IHL), without an option of a fine. 

Kathira did not stop after causing a fatal road accident on December 28, 2021 which claimed lives of three people on the spot. However, Traffic Police in Mchinji launched a spirited manhunt and unmasked (exposed) his identity barely a few days later, and arrested him.

Chinese Community donates Covid-19 preventive kits to Lumbadzi Police

The Chinese business community has donated 240 bottles of Instant Hand Sanitizers and 2000 face masks to Lumbadzi Police Station.

A team of about four Chinese business persons visited the Station on Tuesday, January 4, 2021.

Presenting the donation, Chairperson for the Chinese Community, Zhou Shanjian said that they donated those items (hand sanitizers and face masks) as one way of appreciating the commendable job by Police in protecting lives and properties of people in the country.

Lilongwe Police recover stolen items, suspect arrested

Police in Lilongwe have recovered household items worth over eight million kwacha, and arrested one suspect, Dini Shano, 26, on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 in area 23.

The recovered items include; four plasma screens, three of 55 each and one of 48 inches, three laptops, decorders, speakers, brand new kitchen utensils and other valuable items. 

The recovery of the items and Shano's arrest follow investigations the station's detectives instituted to establish other accomplices who include Phinious Banda, 23, and Wiseman Patrick, 24.

Tanzanian woman arrested for possessing dangerous drugs at KIA

Police at Kamuzu International Airport (KIA) have arrested a 27-year-old Tanzanian national, Walid Saidi Salum for being found in possession of dangerous drugs.

The arrest follows routine checks that Police conducts at the international airport on arrival and departure terminals.

However, some weeks ago on December 6, 2021 the suspect entered Malawi by road through Songwe border. She proceeded to Blantyre.

On December 8, she left Blantyre through Chileka Airport on a Malawian airlines flight enroute to New Dehli- India for business. 

Police clears M1-road blockage by Kabaza motorcycle operators at Nsipe, Ntcheu

Police in Ntcheu have moved swiftly to clear the M1-road at Nsipe Trading Centre which was blocked with burning tyres and tree logs by some angry Kabaza operators. 

Tension arose after Ntcheu District Council officials allegedly confiscated unregistered motorbikes from some Kabaza motorcycle operators in the area, and the latter decided to block the M1-road in retaliation. 

However, Police in Ntcheu promptly quelled the volatile situation by engaging the protesters to clear the road for smooth passage of motorists and all road users.
