MPS applauds WITA, AGA-Africa for law enforcement equipment
The Malawi Police Service (MPS) has applauded the Wildlife Investigators Training Alliance (WITA) and Attorney General Alliance-Africa (AGA-Africa) for the timely donation of law enforcement equipment to the Service which will enhance the fight against transnational crimes.
Speaking on behalf of the Inspector General of Police, Dr. George Kainja, PPM, during the symbolic handing over ceremony at National Police Headquarters in Lilongwe, Commissioner of Police, Mr. Happy Mkandawire, hailed the duo for the up to date law enforcement equipment.
Mkandawire said the equipment will help officers carry out both national and transnational criminal investigations swiftly.
He therefore asked police officers especially investigators to take care of the equipment and use them for the intended purposes.
In their remarks, WITA Executive Director, Shawn Karns, and AGA-Africa Director of Programs, Chukukere Unamba-Oparah expressed gratitude for the partnership between MPS and the duo.
The donation, according to AGA-Africa Country Representative Gift Caroline Chikwakwa, is worth $23,547 (over K24 million) and it includes scene of crime dressing gear, medical and investigations equipment.
