Public notice on purported attacks by Street Kids in Lilongwe

Lilongwe Police would like to inform members of the public that it is aware of the presence of some street kids (ana amasikini) in the city, and the threats these kids are causing on unsuspecting persons during the day or night time. 

However, the station would like to make it clear that, going by the current situation and statistics, the extent of the problem perpetrated by these street kids is not as bad as it is being portrayed in most social media platforms.

For instance, the station has, for the past 2 or 3 weeks, registered only one incident in which two suspects were arrested in connection with the attack by street kids attacks. No any other case has since been recorded apart from that isolated case. 

Lilongwe Police law enforcers have tremendously gave their best to contain safety and security threat, allegedly posed by these street connected children.

The officers are always strategically positioned at Lilongwe Bridge and other places which were once deemed to be the street kids' hot-spots.

Lilongwe Police Station is committed to continue monitoring and handling the street kids professionally while at the same time ensuring safety and security of all residents and visitors in the city.

The station further advises people to always report any acts of lawlessness perpetrated by the street kids. This will in turn assist the law enforcers to plan well and take appropriate actions.

Meanwhile, Lilongwe Police is advising people to desist from creating stories, making comments that have the capacity of creating unnecessary fear and pressure towards the general public.
